Lets Get to know each other
WHO I AM
The starting point for my doula work is an understanding that this is your birth. Not mine or anyone else’s. I take time to get to know my clients, their personalities, needs, desires and approach to labor and birth, and then tailor my support to fit each unique situation.
I believe that every person knows themselves best, and knows best what they and their baby need during birth. During your prenatal appointment I spend lots of time listening to what you are looking for in your birth, but also why you want those things. This allows me to tailor my support to you and enables me to provide caring, non-judgmental support during your labor. Whether you want or need an unmedicated birth, some medication, or a cesarean section, I will provide support to help you meet your birth goals. If for whatever reason, there’s a change of plans during labor I will help make sure that you are in control of those decisions.
I have supported families in hospitals and home births throughout NYC. I have experience with a wide variety of births including unmedicated, medicated, high risk, inductions, VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), hypnobirthing, and cesareans. In addition to being a DONA trained doula I have also completed Advanced Doula Training with Penny Simkin.
I’m originally from Virginia, but now call New York City home. I studied Anthropology at the University of Virginia and before becoming a doula worked as a community organizer in Virginia, Ohio, and New York. I speak Spanish and German an have two sons, who were born in 2015 and 2017 in Manhattan.
I am deeply honored to be invited to every birth I attend. As your doula I will be a caring non-judgmental and supportive presence to help ensure you have the birth you want.
I’m so excited to meet you and hear your story. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the form above to get the conversation started.
